An Anesthetic Experience of Masked Pericardial Tamponade due to Chest Stab Wound

Abstract

|
A 22 year old Korean man admitted to hospital due to stab wound of right upper chest. After shock therapy he was transferred to operating room td do emergency thoracotomy to repair hemothorax. During operation, there found 120ml of blood in the pericardial cavity. In spite of accumulation of the blood; no other sign of pericardial tamponade was found. The diagnosis of pericardial tamponade seems to be difficult in early stage of its development.
